Content
The MOOC on Open Educational Resources (OER) is designed to guide learners through the world of online course materials, starting with an introduction to copyright and licenses, then moving on to explore OERs, repositories, common hurdles, and the future of the field.
The video series aims to provide a comprehensive overview of OERs, covering fundamental questions such as the historical roots and significance of OER, as well as complex legal issues surrounding copyrights, licenses, authorship, and usage. The videos cater to a global audience, including teachers, instructional designers, and educational developers, and are embedded within the respective chapters of the MOOC to serve as an introduction to the course's material and help participants connect with the content.
The comics provide an engaging and visually appealing way to convey information that complements the videos. They serve as summary documents that learners can download and use as resources for further research and teaching, as all course materials are published under a CC-BY-NC-SA license. The podcasts offer a deeper understanding of Creative Commons, enabling learners to apply this knowledge to create and share their own educational resources.
Lastly, the podcasts provide a deeper understanding of Creative Commons, empowering learners to apply this knowledge to their own work. By providing a range of resources and perspectives, this MOOC is an essential tool for anyone interested in creating, sharing, or teaching with OERs.
Podcasts will be uploaded here soon.

Visual Style
Blender software meets voxel style! In this series, a digital model of the ETH main building is rendered in voxel-style, creating an engaging backdrop for Nanuq and Frida, the animated main characters. Together, they guide the audience through the history of OERs, explaining complex concepts, highlighting opportunities, and drawing attention to potential obstacles. This playful journey is designed to inform and inspire, appealing to anyone interested in the exciting world of OERs.
We chose this Minecraft-inspired look for this project because it serves as a metaphor for what an OER is - a building block that can be used to create, modify, and remix educational materials.
In Minecraft, players build structures from individual blocks, each one contributing to the final product. Similarly, OERs provide educators and students with the building blocks they need to create their own unique learning experiences. By using a Minecraft-inspired visual style, we hope to convey the idea that OERs are versatile, flexible, and easily adaptable to different needs and situations. Additionally, we believe that the playful, whimsical look of Minecraft will appeal to our target audience of educators and students, making the OER concept more accessible and engaging.
